no preview on plate page..

Not sure what happened....I was using rev 2335 then recently updated to 2351

Now all the new plates just get a black shape that approximates the model not the actual image I got previously
Old plates still show the model as before.
I think this was happening prior to the 2351 update and I know it was working with 2335 at one time.

I tried turning preview on off then back on but still no joy.  Also tried a full reboot.
maybe it is my models...If I get a chance I will try adding a new plate for a model that clearly worked previously.

Thanks

UPDATE:  using an old files results in a proper image.
a failed image gets this in the log:

Re: no preview on plate page..

It means 3d preview generator failed to render image on time. It is safeguard to prevent OS hanging as 3d preview on pi could take long time for some geometries.
By the way between 2335~2351 nothing changed in terms of 3D preview so it probably coincident. If you believe it is not please, share a STL file so I will try on older build to check any possible regression.

Re: no preview on plate page..

I agree, I do not think it is any different between versions.  I guess my STLs just take too long or are somehow not useable...could we have an easy way to increase the time out maybe as a preference so we can tell if it is just the STL is bad or if the preview generator is just 'too' slow.  These are not terribly complex
STLs but they were generated with SCAD so they tend to have some weird triangles...

I would suggest if the image can't be generated in a reasonable time then maybe just use a flattened view of all of the slices or just the first layer(s)....although the black shadow does provide some indication of the model shape too.

Re: no preview on plate page..

We do plan to improve performance of 3D preview. Hopefully we can render all previews for all STLs file soon. But will add suggested changes to backlog.
