FEP Film alternatives

Hello again everyone

Im nearing the end of my build and now need to finalize my flex vat. These days it's common to use FEP as the membrane for the flex vat but the issue I have is that it's gas permeability is quite poor hence the oxygen rich layer on the film get depleted fast and the cured layer actually sticks to the FEP film.

I found that Wacker now makes extremely thin silicon films ranging in thickness from 20 to 400 micron (silpuran and Elastosil). These membranes have a higher gas permeability and it should prevent the cured layer from sticking to the film.

Has anyone ever attempted to use these films or any other silicon. Films for their flex vats. Also, can anyone foresee an issue in using these films.

Your inputs and opinions will be highly appreciated.

Re: FEP Film alternatives

I don't know about the alternatives but it was suggested to me to use RainX treatment on the fep before using it. That does seem to help with the sticking some.

Re: FEP Film alternatives

You might try Polyolefin as a FEP alternative. Not oxygen permeable but this film is more flexible than teflon and the peeling is very smooth. I am printing successfully with POF for about year.
